Kayla, Brandon & Hank,

Congratulations on the big life moves!

Just like you, I’ve been looking forward to this wedding for some time. It was so wonderful to be welcomed by all your family and friends. It was immediately apparent just how real and down to earth you and your people are. That reflects back and shines from you too! I just love it when my clients have the utmost trust in my ability, allowing me to walk in and start working on capturing moments right away, so thank you for that. It was a joy having the opportunity to capture your wedding memories!

Wishing you many, many happy years together!

Now queue up a few of your favorite love songs and enjoy these wedding memories!

Mooncrest Ranch Wedding

Cody, WY

I just had one of those moments.

Six years! It’s been six years since the last time I was out at Mooncrest Ranch to photograph a wedding. That means I’ve been a wedding photographer for over six years now!

Ever since that first time, I’ve wanted to go back to Mooncrest and it’s held a spot in my list of top 5 favorite wedding venues.

Mooncrest is an intimate wedding venue tucked way up a private canyon north of Buffalo Bill Reservoir not far from Cody. The venue overlooks beautiful palisades (pictured above) and best yet, it’s in picturesque soft light all evening long!

On my first trip to the ranch I was certain we were lost. According to Google, it’s only about 3 miles from the main road. That is a lie. Once Google says “you’ve arrived” keep going for another 7 miles!

Back in 2014, I was still often working under one of my mentors, Kene Sperry who I was sure got us lost until we stopped for directions and were told to keep going.

It was also one of my first full time wedding seasons and the year I feel I found my voice photographically. I mainly focused on reading interactions and anticipating moments. Much of what I studied that season is still extremely informative to my current work. (Take a deeper look across my portfolios to see what I mean.)

My goal when photographing a wedding is to capture the essence of the day by focusing on the authentic candid moments that unfold.
